Police chase stolen Porsches through the snowy streets of Birmingham

Police in Birmingham, UK, said a man had been detained for 16 months after leading police in a high-speed chase in a stolen Porsche 911 on Jan. 25.

West Midlands Police said driver Lee Smythe lost control of the car in snowy conditions before being rammed off the road by a patrol car.

“We used a tactical contact to lock him up and were quickly able to handcuff him,” said PC Rich Storer. “It was a good job – locking him up a little over two hours after the news that the Porsche was reported stolen was a huge effort.”

Smythe admitted he had hit the vehicles badly, driven dangerously, failed to stop for the police and owned guns, police said. He was sentenced on February 25th. Credit: West Midlands Police via Storyful
