Two companies demonstrated their resilience during the pandemic by expanding and moving into office space in Derby.
Cornerstone Facilities Ltd is moving into permanent office space just 11 months after establishment and Professional Heating Solutions Ltd has been successful in the past 12 months allowing them to expand rapidly.
Cornerstone Facilities Ltd, a cleaning and facility management company, recently took over a full-time office owned by Staton Young in the College Business Center on Uttoxeter New Road, Derby. While initially working from their home office in Derby, they had to purchase an office due to growth.
The College Business Center was built as a teacher training center in 1850 and was more recently part of the University of Derby. The location has 26,000 m² of office space on four floors.
Before starting Cornerstone, Adam Miley was a hygiene manager in food processing and previously a cleaning manager in a hospital. He decided to start the company during the first national lockdown in April 2020 after getting the idea on one of his daily walks while on vacation. A cleaning company was a dream of his and he decided to take the plunge.
Adam Miley (Cornerstone Facilities) told us, “We received the keys to our new office in the College Business Center in late February and the move went smoothly. We chose Staton Young after looking around the Derby offices where there was no hassle, no hidden fees and a professional, innovative company. We also know that as our business grows, Staton Young will be able to make room for it. This step will have a positive impact and we can invite potential customers to a professional and clean environment. “
Professional Heating Solutions Ltd are plumbing and heating companies. You work with multiple clients, from insurance companies to property developers, landlords and private clients. The company was previously based in Shelton Lock and covers the East Midlands area.
The growth has made her look for a new premise to start her business. They moved to the college business center on March 1st. The move allows them to improve the service to their clients from the administration team and grow the business further by providing employees with a place to conduct training and visit visitors in one central location.
Daniel Jones, Professional Heating Solutions Ltd., told us: “We chose the College Business Center because it offers a characteristic building, a central location and fantastic service. We were slightly affected by the pandemic at the beginning. We used the initial lockdown to evaluate our business and move us in the direction we want to grow. This enabled us to put together our popular service plan package and offer funding as an FCA approved importer. “
