Midlands Live: Latest news and local stories

A Walsall pub with a history of clutter has lost its license despite a former chef leaving.

Between October 2019 and December last year, King George V was the scene of a number of incidents on Wallows Lane, including a car ramming the front of the property, “terrible” street brawls and after hours of drinking.

A meeting of the Walsall Council’s licensing committee also learned how a number of Covid law violations had been committed.

Neil Barnes of pub owner Admiral Taverns said he had decided not to renew the leases with former property agent Raman Singh and had taken sole ownership of the pub in order to sell it.

West Midlands Police, which originally called for the license to be revoked, said it was gratifying to see it continue. Mr. Singh was no longer in the picture, but the committee members decided to revoke the license.
