Worcestershire County Council has received a grant of £ 885,000 to invest in efficiency and renewable energy projects.
With grant funding from Salix Finance’s public sector decarbonization program, lighting and glazing improvements, insulation, draft tests, and the installation of frequency converters and solar PV systems will be carried out at a number of community locations across the county.
Eleven local governments will benefit from the grant, including County Hall, Wildwood, County Enterprises, Fairfield Center and Warndon Library, Wendron Center and Waseley Hills Country Park, and the libraries in Kidderminster, Evesham, Tenbury, Droitwich and Malvern.
Coun Tony Miller, Cabinet Member Responsible for the Environment, said: “I am delighted to welcome this grant funding from Salix.
“It will help realize projects that support our zero carbon goals in line with the recently approved Net Zero Carbon Plan.
“We remain committed to our promise to fight climate change. This funding is so valuable in helping us in the right direction. “
The net zero carbon plan was approved in October and shows how the agency will fight climate change and fulfill its promise to be climate neutral by 2050 to meet the central government’s goal.
