The Birmingham office of global law firm DLA Piper has run a large round of promotions.
Lisa Hodgson and Samantha Haglington of the practice’s employment team became Legal Director and Senior Associate, respectively.
Gemma Rooney and Neetu Sehdev (finance, projects and restructuring), Taryn Jones and Joe Cater (litigation and regulatory), Michael Stead (intellectual property and technology) and Pieter Claussen (real estate) also advance to the senior associate level.

The event will take place on Thursday November 11th at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham and will celebrate apprentices, employers and training providers across 12 categories, including our total Apprentice of the Year.

Birmingham-based telecommunications company Flomatik has appointed a new managing director.
Dean Checkley has over 35 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and began his career at the age of 16 as an apprentice at GEC Telecommunications in Coventry.
Before that he was interim managing director at Rural Optic.
Flomatik operates its main design and planning facilities at Fort Dunlop in Castle Bromwich.

Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership has appointed a new director of economic strategy.
Henriette Breukelaar has a background in economic development and was Marketing and Communications Director at High Value Manufacturing Catapult and Head of the Project Portfolio at Innovation Birmingham.
She spent ten years with the now defunct regional development agency Advantage West Midlands, where she became director.
Accounting firm Azets has promoted Ben Sheldon to director of their Birmingham business.
The company created a new audit team in the city in 2019, which was joined by Mr Sheldon from PwC.
He also supports Azets at the national level and sits on the national audit committee.
“I am very pleased to have contributed to the continued growth of the Birmingham office and I look forward to taking the first step in my new role as Director,” he said.

Shoosmiths law firm has announced three partners in their Birmingham office.
Elinor Sanbach (real estate), Lucy Taylor (asset protection) and Sarah Tedstone (data protection, privacy and cybersecurity) have joined forces.
Shoosmiths said the promotions meant that 38 percent of the company’s partners were now women.

Drew Johnson will lead a new wealth-based lending advisory service in the Midlands.
He joins PNC Business Credit, a major US financial institution, as a Director, where he served as a director of business development initiating, structuring and executing large SMB and medium-sized transactions in the £ 1 million to £ 150 million range.
He has 20 years of corporate finance and banking experience.
