Aerial drone footage shows progress in the new Nottinghamshire Joint Police and Fire Department

New drone footage shows the great strides that have been made in the new joint police and fire station in Nottinghamshire.

The new aerial view of Sherwood Lodge, Arnold, shows how the new three story building is developing in the existing Nottinghamshire Police base.

It is being carried out by Beeston-based construction company Henry Brothers Midlands, which started work on the site in mid-July last year.

Most of the main construction work has been completed on the new building, which will be complemented by a number of other improvements across the site.

When completed, the site will include shared office space for the Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services, as well as a new police control room, sports hall, gym and canteen.

Work on the project is proceeding on time and on budget. Employees are expected to move into the facility in January 2022.

Superintendent Paul Winter leads the project for the Nottinghamshire Police Department.

He said, “As this new footage shows, this is really a huge project.

“From the new access road that now circles the site to the hundreds of new parking spaces, the new shared campus is slowly taking shape.

“It really is proof of the skill and professionalism of everyone involved that we are sticking to the schedule for the opening in January despite the ongoing pandemic.

“This new project is not just about construction, however. It is the next step in a much longer journey of collaborative projects between the two services.

“We already share several premises and other vital resources – including the drone we used to shoot this footage.

“Both organizations are committed to the security of our communities and I am excited about the role this new headquarters will play in this collective goal.”

Damien West, Area Manager at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service added, “This new footage shows the amazing work that is being done at Sherwood Lodge to house our new joint headquarters.

“This exciting new phase in the history of our ministry is approaching and it is great to see the building doing so well.”

Initial budgets for the program indicated that the new headquarters will cost a total of £ 18.5 million.
