The East Midlands Chamber has congratulated ten companies on winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in four categories.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire organizations joined 205 British firms from various sectors.

They have been recognized by Her Majesty the Queen as the best in the country in four categories: innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunities through social mobility.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, established in 1965, are considered the most prestigious business awards in Great Britain. They will be assessed by senior Whitehall officials and experts from industry, academia and the third sector.

Among the winners were four members of the East Midlands Chamber:

  • Vitamin manufacturer in Swadlincote, Brunel Healthcare (international trade)
  • The Leicester-based Indian snack brand Cofresh Snack Foods (international trade)
  • Derby-based sportswear brand HUUB (innovation)
  • Ashbourne-based electric tug maker, MasterMover (international trade).

Scott Knowles, Chief Executive of the East Midlands Chamber, said: “Manufacturing has long been an important part of the East Midlands economy, so it is not surprising that many companies in this industry are recognized in our region.

“It’s great to see companies like Brunel Healthcare, Cofresh Snack Foods and MasterMover selling their products in both established and emerging markets around the world.”

He said innovation is critical to economic recovery and the UK’s goal of “rebuilding better”.

Mr. Knowles said, “It’s great to see more fantastic examples from companies like HUUB whose gear is worn by some of the world’s best triathletes in the Summer Olympics.

“Together with the recent confirmation of a free port in the East Midlands, this is further evidence of how our region can be a growth engine as a manufacturer and originator of quality goods.”
