Nottingham Forest boss on the future of the squad and big questions about the summer transfer window answered

Boss Chris Hughton says he is “well on the way” to determine the future of the players on his Nottingham Forest squad.

The Reds manager has a crucial summer transfer window ahead of him. Changes are expected as he wants to aim for a boost in promotion next season.

There will be entrances and exits around the town and there is uncertainty about what will happen to several of the people currently in Forest’s books.

In addition to five borrowers, at the end of the campaign there are a number of players who are no longer contracted, so there are some important decisions to be made.

After Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Huddersfield Town, in which the hosts underperformed, Hughton told the dressing room that “every opportunity to play is an opportunity for me to see the qualities you have”. .

Injury update

Nottingham Forest will have to do without the injured duo Sammy Ameobi and Tobias Figueiredo on Wednesday evening in Birmingham City.

And boss Chris Hughton has ruled out a surprise comeback for Joe Lolley in the remaining four games of the season.

The Reds travel to the West Midlands to recover from Saturday’s 2-0 home loss to Huddersfield Town. The safety of the championship is not yet fully assured.

Winger Ameobi has missed the last two games with an ankle injury while defender Figueiredo is sidelined with a thigh problem.
