A Place In The Sun couple lose 12 stones after being appalled to see themselves on TV

A couple from A Place in the Sun lost a whopping 12 stones in a health inspection after seeing themselves on TV.

Lisa, 49, and Paul Sanderson, 46, traveled to Spain on the Channel 4 show looking for a new home but were shocked to see each other on TV.

On the show, the Sandersons were keen on a £ 72,500 three-bedroom bungalow in Torrevieja, in the sunny climes of the Costa Blanca, Spain.

However, the episode, which aired in July 2019 and filmed the previous April, caused the couple to change.

Lisa had gained weight after chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.

The nurse revealed that after five chemotherapy sessions and a limo ride home, when she got the all-clear, she had decided not to worry about what she wanted.

Paul was also shocked to see how much weight he had also put on. In the summer of 2019, he weighed up to 16 kilos 7 pounds.

After the shock of seeing themselves on TV, changing their diet and going to work, the two lost 12 stones together in one year.

Lisa fell to 10 stones and went from size 22 to size 12.

Lisa told the SWNS: “Seeing yourself on TV is so different. We knew we had to do something.

Mother of three Lisa had two successful surgeries, five sessions of chemotherapy, and 23 sessions of radiation therapy over the course of six months to beat cancer, but now says she relaxed too much about her health afterwards.

Grandmother of six, Lisa, said, “When you’re feeling better, you just want to enjoy yourself, but maybe I was having too much fun.”

The competitive couple said they could compete with each other when they joined Weight Watchers in November 2019 and tried to beat each other on losing weight every month.
