Birmingham Development Chief launches new real estate business

A Birmingham-based real estate developer has launched a new company to bring life to the main streets of commuter and small towns.

Sam Ginda is the Joint Chief Executive of Taylor Grange, which is behind a number of projects in Birmingham city center, including a 37-story serviced apartment block at 211 Broad Street.

His new project is called Future High Street Living, which will focus on helping shopping streets in need of renovation by promoting programs that help increase footfall and create jobs.

His first project is for Mr. Ginda to work to remodel the Queens Square Shopping Center in his hometown of West Bromwich.

40 percent of the space is currently occupied, so that with Mr. Ginda’s investment, the retail offer is combined in one area alongside residential development of around 285 houses and apartments and improvements to public space.

The adjacent parking lot on Bull Street was demolished.

Mr Ginda said, “Growing up in West Bromwich, I feel so passionate about doing my part to help an area that really needs regeneration and I couldn’t stand the way this part of the city center is in Past has gone back years.

“The introduction of new homes near local transport links will create a thriving, sustainable community that encourages people to spend time here.

“In addition, developing unused retail space into housing could be a great way to repopulate our main streets from a social perspective while bringing much-needed housing stock to market at the same time.

“We believe that the proposed terms will not only protect the interests of the council, but will also provide financial gain for the Sandwell Council by promoting this great development.”

He added, “The coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated the retail crisis and it is incredibly sad to see the demise of Main Street accelerate and many big names close their doors forever.

“Urgent action is needed to revitalize these areas that were once the heart of local communities.

“Future High Street Living is about bringing difficult main roads back to life by investing in developments that create new homes and new reasons to revisit these areas.”
