The children of the Birmingham shopkeepers, found dead in their luxurious Midlands home, paid tribute to their “beloved” parents tonight.
The bodies of Sewa Badial, 87, and his 73-year-old wife Sukhjit were discovered at their mansion in Kenilworth, Coventry, on Tuesday June 29. Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the couple’s death.
They are “avid supporters of good causes and committed members of the local Midlands community” and run the long-established Badial department store on Soho Road in Handsworth.

They also founded several schools and colleges for disadvantaged girls, as well as rural hospitals in India.
The couple’s children said they were “overwhelmed with messages of love and affection” for their parents as they paid tribute to them after their deaths.
They added that a service would be held in the future so that family and friends could celebrate their lives.
A family statement said: “The Badial family seek privacy as they mourn and grapple with the deaths of their beloved father and mother.
“Mr. Sewa Singh Badial and Mrs. Sukhjit Kaur Badial of Kenilworth Road, Coventry leave four children and seven grandchildren.
“Mr. Sewa Singh Badial and Ms. Sukhjit Kaur Badial have been avid charities and committed members of the local Midlands community.
“They also founded several schools and colleges for disadvantaged girls and rural hospitals in India.
“The family would like to thank the people for the many messages of support they have received. They were overwhelmed by messages of love and affection for their parents.
“At some point they will soon be holding a church service so family and friends can get together to celebrate their lives.
“The family would like to thank the West Midlands Police for their ongoing investigation.”
West Midlands Police said forensic autopsies will take place in due course.
