Smith partnership
Smith Partnership law firm has strengthened its Leicester operations with five new employees.
The city branch New Walk, managed by the managing partner Alison Neate, has grown steadily in recent years.
The firm was recognized by the Legal 500 Best Law Firms Guide for its work on professional negligence and operates a sister company, Claims Against, based in Leicester.
Attorney Suhail Alloo joins this department from Nelsons and specializes in complex cases.
Paralegal Sophie Wilson came from Josiah Hincks and joins the same division.
Meanwhile, Samuel Mason, a lawyer specializing in family law, from Dodds Solicitors, where he worked for four years, joins the Leicester team.
Further deepening is added with the acquisition of legal officers, Marcus Samuel-Brown and Paricce Davis, who serves as legal secretary in the commercial real estate division.

Lovell partnerships
Housing construction and renovation specialist Lovell Partnerships has strengthened its Midlands team with two new assistant partnership managers – Rebekah Bacon and Chantel Cresswell.
Rebekah and Chantel have partnered to support the company’s focus on developing partnerships with housing authorities, city councils and companies in the housing sector to bring new housing projects to market.

Rebekah will cover the East Midlands while Chantel will focus on the West Midlands, with both looking to build relationships, manage partnerships and ultimately accelerate the delivery of apartment buildings in the area.
Rebekah said, “I am thrilled to be joining the team to strengthen existing partnerships, build new relationships, and expand our overall presence in the East Midlands, as well as supporting and shaping the overall vision to accelerate the delivery of apartment buildings in the US region to 2022 and beyond. “
Her arrival follows several new development projects, partnerships and customer wins since the beginning of the year for Lovell, which offers “multi-tenure” residential programs as well as new construction and refurbishment.
Several major projects are advancing in the Midlands, including the construction of 234 homes on the site of an old foundry in Fountain Lane, Oldbury, and 190 homes at Branston Locks in Burton-on-Trent – both supplied in partnership with Housing Associations .
Notts County Foundation
The Notts County Foundation has announced the appointment of 13 new employees to support the charity’s growing presence in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The football club’s official charity runs a range of programs that make a positive contribution to the people of the area, spark aspirations, and support some of the most disadvantaged, marginalized, and talented people in the city and county.

Lauren Cotton and Sam Crawford of the Notts County Foundation
Megan Collins, Nicolas Victory and Gemma Stapleton have joined the Foundation in the Meadows as multipurpose carers at the Portland Center.
Emma Shiels, Mia Humphreys, Maddie Knowles and Stefan Furgala are now the charity’s newest coaches and swimming instructors.
Kyle Beekman and Dawn Hales will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of the Portland Center.
Sufyaan Ali, who operates out of its headquarters on Meadow Lane, has been named financial assistant, Steven Grocock has been named National Citizen Service Officer, and Lauren Cotton has become the charity’s new sports and inclusion manager.
Barclays
Barclays has appointed Nick Carrington as the new director of corporate development for the Midlands, responsible for companies with sales of up to £ 50 million.
Nick, who has worked in banking for 16 years, has experience in medium-sized SMBs on the trade and working capital team and will be tasked with building the market share of Barclay’s medium-sized companies with a focus on industry and sector leaders.

Breedon
Leicestershire-based building materials company Breedon has appointed Pauline Lafferty as an independent non-executive director effective August 1, 2021.
It comes after Moni Mannings, a non-executive director and chair of the group’s compensation committee, announced her intention to step down from the board of directors to join the board of directors of online car dealer Cazoo as a non-executive director.

Pauline will replace her as Chair of the Compensation Committee and as Non-Executive Directorate for Employee Engagement.
Ms. Lafferty is currently the non-executive director and chairman of the compensation committee of XP Power Limited and serves on the boards of other unlisted companies. Previously, she held a variety of leadership roles with experience in human resources, including as Chief People Officer at Weir Group Plc.

Local resident Becky Harris has secured a new job as community organizer for Lubbesthorpe Alive CIC, which was created to support the people who live on the New Lubbesthorpe estate, west of Leicester, which will eventually have up to 4,250 new homes.
Around 600 homes are now inhabited on the site, built by Davidsons, Barratt, David Wilson Homes and Redrow Homes.

Alice Stewardson from Danaher & Walsh won the CECA Southern Young Achiever Awards 2021 as the most promising apprentice to be a quantity surveyor.
The Young Achiever Awards are organized by the South Region of the Building Entrepreneurs Association and recognize outstanding achievements by younger members of the civil engineering industry.

Alice was presented by Olympic medalist Amy Williams MBE at a Covid Safe ceremony in July.
Alice joined Leicestershire-based construction company Danaher & Walsh as a trainee in 2016 and combined her work with a degree at Birmingham City University.
She has now completed the last year of her BSc degree in Quantity Survey, in which she consistently achieved good grades and was praised for her extracurricular work.
Her dissertation was submitted to the leading international journal Building Research and Information. Her supervisor, world-renowned Professor David J. Edwards, says that Alice “is without a doubt the most competent, dedicated, and conscientious student I have ever taught internationally.”
In addition, she advises and coaches other students in their bachelor’s degree, especially in developing robust methodological approaches for their thesis.
In addition to her core work, Alice actively promotes positive mental health and wellbeing. A trained mental health first responder, Alice acts as a confidential first point of contact for colleagues at Danaher & Walsh who have mental health problems.
