ITV Central News legend Bob Warman to receive MBE for stellar Birmingham career

ITV Central News legend Bob Warman has been named in the Queen’s Birthday Honors List. The long-serving presenter is set to receive an MBE after a stellar career in journalism.

The senior anchorman, 75, has presented ITV Central News for a staggering 49 years. He began his career as a local news reporter at the Walsall Observer and the Birmingham Post and Mail.

Mr Warman moved over to broadcasting as a journalist on Radio Birmingham, before eventually joining ITV Other highlights include presenting Britain’s first breakfast show in 1977: ‘Good Morning Calendar’. He also hosted Sky’s ‘The Price is Right’.

Today, the president of Birmingham Press Club runs his own PR company and continues to take part in charity. He was a founding member of the committee which established the Princess Royal Trust for carers in the Midlands.

Thirty-three others from across the West Midlands have been named in the Birthday Honors List. Each year the Queen recognizes the extraordinary achievements of people from all walks of life.

The announcements have come early this year to coincide with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Overall the list includes seven OBEs, 18 MBEs and nine British Empire Medals.

This year’s recipients, who have made a significant contribution, come from Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands, John Crabtree OBE said: “Making up the fabric are some amazing people who work hard to deliver a better, brighter and kinder place. These people, with big hearts, are often known within their neighborhoods, but fail to gain the wider credit they deserve.

“This year’s recipients showcase a range of outstanding achievements and provide an insight into the region and the people that make it so great. We are all very grateful for what they do.”
