Co-op invested over £ 216,000 in grocery stores in Norfolk in 2021

Central England Co-op announced that it has invested over £ 8 million and created dozens of new jobs in 2021 as part of major expansion plans.

All of these investments came despite the ongoing challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the disruption in the supply chain.

As a result of the massive investments, the supply chain has created dozens of new jobs in 2021 as part of extensive expansion plans. It opened three new grocery stores, a new coffee shop and flower shops, and restarted more than 40 grocery stores after an extensive renovation program.

In Norfolk, the company refurbished sites in Brundall and Mulbarton, investing £ 216,000. Despite ongoing challenges from the pandemic and the disruption in the supply chain, Central England Co-op has continued to invest in its communities over the past 12 months.

Grocery stores now offer shoppers a wider range of products and are equipped with groundbreaking new energy efficient refrigeration technologies and LED lighting to minimize environmental impact, while all stores are 100% renewable energy.

Many of the stores also have expanded food-to-go areas, indoor and outdoor seating, bike repair stations, customer toilets, and self-scanning tills.

Links with the local community were also continued by inviting local schools to design special works of art that were now placed inside or outside the shops.

Store Manager Jamie Twell said, “All of us here at Central England Co-op across our trading area are proud to be part of such great communities and the investment in new and remodeled, more modern grocery stores over the past 12 months has benefited everyone. a real boost in these uncertain times. “

As part of the Society’s funeral home’s large investment in 2021, 50 new homes and two vehicle logistics locations were welcomed following an agreement with Midcounties Co-operative, which extended the Central England Co-op’s offering to other areas of the Midlands, the South West and South East of England expanded.

Further investments in the funeral home are planned for the next 12 months, while an ambitious new storage and regeneration program is planned for the company’s grocery store in 2022.
