Seven women were fined after enjoying a night in the back of a stretch limousine – violating coronavirus lockdown rules.

The women, all from different households, were stopped in the limousine from Bilston to Sedgley by West Midlands police officers on Saturday evening.

Police told Birmingham Live that they were “amazed” when they stopped the limo and saw who was in it.

The seven women between the ages of 20, 30 and 40 reportedly said they lived in the same household.

But when the women got off the vehicle at Sedgley, police found that they did not.

They were each fined £ 200.

Meeting friends in a limousine is not an exception to the stay-at-home rule.

“All of them were fined £ 200.”

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: “Seven women have been issued fixed penal notices after traveling together in a stretch limo from Bilston to Sedgley in violation of Covid restrictions.

“The vehicle was first stopped in Bilston, where all seven between the ages of 20, 30 and 40 claimed to live in the same household.

“Upon getting out of the vehicle at Sedgley, officers realized it was not and the fines were imposed.”

During the second statewide lockdown, people in England will have to stay at home unless they are traveling for a lawful purpose.

Reasons to leave the home during the second lockdown, which is scheduled to last through December 2, include work when you cannot work from home and volunteering.

Or essential activities such as shopping for groceries or medicines and collecting ordered food or drinks via click-and-collect or take-away.

People are also allowed to leave the house to withdraw or deposit money from a bank or post office and to access “critical services”.

Children and young people are also allowed to attend educational institutions.

People are allowed to play sports without restriction, but individuals can only meet another person outside of their household or support Bubble and must maintain social distance.
