Media production company creates new jobs on the basis of HS2 contracts

A media production company created three new jobs after securing work on HS2.

Hideaway Media, based in Stone, Staffordshire, is one of more than 2,000 companies already working on the railroad project.

The company received its first HS2 order in 2017 to supply site surveillance cameras and time-lapse technology for the HS2 station location on Birmingham Curzon Street.

The 17-person company supplied drone material and supplied HS2 contractors in locations in London, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

Working on HS2 has also created three new full-time positions.

Gary Kelsall, who founded the company in 2007, said, “HS2 is an important project. I’ve seen firsthand how the benefits affect local supply chains. These opportunities are particularly welcome as companies face challenges due to Covid 19 and HS2 is a real support for our business.

“Involvement in the project led the team to raise the bar for our work and helped us develop and work on other projects.”

Hideaway Media’s work on the project includes the end-to-end delivery of time-lapse footage for some work on the HS2 project.

In Birmingham, they worked with HS2’s construction company LMJV, which is covering a location in the city area where an HS2 depot is being built.

You have also worked with CSJV in London and recorded the work in Euston Square and Camden as part of the facilitation work there.

The footage from the cameras was also used in the BBC documentary series “Britain’s Biggest Dig”, which captured the archaeological work of the project.

With devices that create 6K ultra high definition images, the company also provides online viewing portals that can be accessed remotely to track and monitor images of work in progress, get images of work in progress, health and safety practices to review and analyze workflow processes.

David Poole, Commercial and Procurement Director of HS2 Ltd, said: “HS2 is already bringing significant benefits to UK companies working on the project and Hideaway Media in Staffordshire is a good example of this. Because of the shear scale and complexity of HS2, we need both large and small companies with a wide range of expertise to work with us.
