It comes after Storm Dudley caused problems for commuters on Thursday, February 17, after hitting Birmingham and the West Midlands with strong winds causing chaos across the region.

Strong winds damaged the roof at Wolverhampton station on Thursday, meaning some platforms were closed. The disruption is likely to continue on Friday.

West Midlands Railway has urged passengers not to travel during the severe weather event which could be the ‘worst in 30 years’.

Trees have fallen across roads in the region – including Sutton Coldfield, Worcestershire and Wolverhampton.

“Very unsettled and windy over the next few days,” The Met Office said in its forecast for Birmingham and the West Midlands.

“Today-a dry, bright and windy start to the day. Turning cloudier in the afternoon with patchy outbreaks of rain and stronger winds as Storm Dudley approaches. Maximum temperature 14°C.”

A 72-hour weather warning was issued for the region as Storm Dudley and Eunice prepares to hit the country – with winds set to be worse on Friday.
