Tim Hortons has sparked fury with his new store announcement after muddling up two places in the Black Country. Fans of the donut giant were in high spirits after hearing the third drive-thru would be coming to the region.
But they were left confused after it seemed to mix up its latest location – with one person even claiming staff at the fast-food chain ‘need a map’. It came after Tim Hortons announced on Facebook it was set to open a new store in ‘Oldbury, Wolverhampton’, leaving customers would-be puzzled.
Many commented online telling the Canadian chain Oldbury is not part of Wolverhampton and the two locations are in fact ‘completely different places’. Others seemed unsure if a second Tim Hortons was planned for Wolverhampton after the first eatery opened at Bentley Bridge Retail Park last year.

Bea Moon said: “Oldbury and Wolverhampton are two very very different places. You need a map!” David Cross welcomed the news and said: “Great news – But Oldbury is NOT in Wolverhampton?
“They need to be aware that the new site is much closer to Blackheath or Quinton than Wolvo, and the area it is in is Rowley Regis. Also it might get confused with their other ‘Wolverhampton’ branch – which is in Wednesbury.”

James Beckingham added: “Oldbury Wolverhampton? Is that two sites, or are they suggesting Wolverhampton is in Oldbury?” Joanne Gantley told the chain Oldbury is ‘a completely different place’ to Wolverhampton, while Samantha Hamer said Oldbury and Wolverhampton are ‘not next to each other’.
Craig Lowe added: “Oldbury isn’t in Wolverhampton? There’s like nine miles difference.” Others pointed out Oldbury is part of Sandwell, not Wolverhampton.
Anita Foster said: “Oldbury is not in Wolverhampton though, it’s not even the same postcode, it’s in Sandwell.” A new Tim Hortons is set to open at the former Toys ‘R’ Us site at Birchley Island Retail Park in Oldbury.
Birmingham-based developer Hortons’ Estate was given the green light to transform the Wolverhampton Road site last year. Bargain retailer B&M also wants to create a 20,000sq ft store featuring a garden center at the site.
