A marketing campaign to bring visitors to York from all over the country is to be launched.
Make It York and York City Council plan to promote the city in television commercials, magazines and newspapers.
Social media influencers are also invited to York as part of the strategy.
The tourism recovery plans to be signed by the council would allocate £ 64,000 to promote the city as a summer vacation destination.
According to a report, £ 50,000 could be spent on Channel 4 advertising aimed at viewers in the North and Central Plateau.
The aim of the proposals is to increase hotel stays, visitor attractions and the number of visitors and donors in the city center. These are all monitored so that the council can assess the success of the campaign.
Make It York is also planning a program of events and initiatives.
It includes a brochure of summer events as well as the continuation of the Love York campaign and the Love Walking project that started earlier this year.
The council presidents expect the city to be popular with visitors this summer and have predicted a “Covid bounce”.
They work with a behavioral knowledge team to encourage people to stay safe during their visit.
